Mike Smith

Director

Mike is a member of the Investment Committee of the Maui Capital Indigo Fund, and is based in Auckland and Melbourne.

Mike has more than 40 years of business experience, and is one of New Zealand’s most prominent public company and private equity fund directors. 

Mike is also currently a director of the Hauraki No. 2 Fund, and was a director of Hauraki No. 1 Fund during that fund’s life, and in those capacities has worked with members of the Maui Capital team over the past 10 years.

In addition, he is currently the Chairman of Argosy Property Trust and The Lion Foundation, and is a past Chairman or director of various companies including ING (NZ) Holdings, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Lion Nathan, Fonterra, Auckland International Airport and United Networks. 

Mike previously spent most of his working career at Lion Nathan, and was a director of that company for 16 years.

Mike completed a Master of Commerce at the University of Auckland and a PMD Business Course at Harvard Business School.   He is married to Dale and has 3 adult sons.
