John is Chief Operating Officer of Maui Capital.

John has 25 years’ experience in the private equity, financial services and funds management industries. John joined Maui Capital at its inception and is responsible for the management of the operations, finance and tax functions at the firm, with key structuring and financial DD roles in new fund investments.

Prior to joining Maui, John spent 11 years at Goldman Sachs JBWere (1997 – 2008), most recently as Chief Operating Officer – Principal Investments Area, Sydney. In that role he was responsible for (amongst other things) managing the operations of the firms Private Equity, Mezzanine Debt and Special Situations operations, including the Hauraki 1 and 2 Funds. Prior to that appointment John was Group Accountant for Goldman Sachs JBWere New Zealand based in Auckland.

Before 1997 John held various operational roles at Doyle Paterson Brown, Fay Richwhite, National Mutual (now AXA) and Jordan Sandman Smythe.

John holds a Bachelor of Business Studies. He is married to Caroline and has two teenage children.
